On the campus of Xiamen university are a number of trees that I understand to be kapok trees. Most of them have scarlet blooms, but there are one or two which are orange. The trees are enormous and the sparse blooms appear before the leaves generally a long way up. They are difficult to photograph as a result. This one was unusually low down, but I couldn't get a better angle on it, as I would have had to be in a 6 foot deep concrete lined sluice with rather smelly water.
